Total waterborne cargo and passenger transport at Chiang Khong Port

The port is a small river port adjacent to the Mekong River, opposite Huay Xay in Lao PDR. The port mainly serves small ships and ferries from Lao PDR.
The port has a concrete wharf with a width of 24 meters and a length of 108 meters.

The port has a parking lot for 10-wheeled small trucks and can receive 5-10 ton trucks at a time. The port has no facilities for loading or unloading ships.
All freight operations are performed by manual labor. The highest import-export turnover is from two-way trade with China, followed by Laos and Myanmar.
The three most imported items through this port are fresh vegetables and flowers from China. The top three export products are gasoline (diesel), gasoline
(benzene) and consumer products, mainly in China and Laos.
