Inland Waterway Transport legislation

1.) Navigation in Thai Waters Act, B.E. 2456 (1913) is one of the oldest Thai laws relating to navigation.
As the Act is quite an old law, it has been amended several times and many Ministerial Regulations and Announcements are issued under the Act.

The Act comprises three major parts, being:

Chapter I General Rules

Chapter II Rules for issuing licenses for use and control of steam boats and small vessels

Chapter III Special Rules on dangerous goods, tankers, pilotage, etcetera.

2.) The Thai Vessel Act B.E. 2481 as amended requires Thai vessels, in order to be registered as such, to comply with the survey requirements under the Act
on Navigation in Thai Waters.

3.) The Regulation on Ship Survey (No. 19) B.E. 2534, designed for passenger vessels and ferries, provides regulations on construction, crew requirements,
provisions for passengers, requirements when carrying dangerous cargo and firefighting and life-saving equipment.
